my name is Chantelle and i have saltwater mermaid and freshwater mermaid and in my language Ndjebbana that mermaid is call Djomi they got long brown hair their their tails are gray and black. They cry when the rain starts. When people drink the water from the fresh waterhole where the mermaids live or they touch the rocks in the freshwater hole then they get pregnant . Also there’s a freshwater spring in the mangroves that’s part of the Djomi dreaming. If they touch the salt water down at the side camp then they’ll get pregnant, so we don’t swim there because that mermaid there. They talk to me when I sleep and dream. When they cry they cry to me and tell me that girls pregnant . That’s true story. i feel proud to carry that dreaming, it makes me feel happy, they are like my friends. I made this piece about our totems with Fionica, Martha and Martina
